We had to choose two books to base our designs on so beginnig with the research i decided to look into the overview synopsis of the books, starting with What a Carve Up!
Synopsis
"It is the 1980s and the Winshaw family are getting richer and crueller by the year:

Looking that this synopsis of this novel it gives me the idea that its pretty complex and there is a lot of mystery, crime, and has a dynamic and dystopian feel to it and money and power being a strong point in the book. It does sound really interesting for being set in the 80's. I will be looking into the plot as well in more detail of a summary of the book in another post.
